Thomas Carlyle said the history of the world is but the biography of great men. Every game has its greats. Jordan, Chamberlain; Gretzky, Howe; Ruth, Aaron; Tiger and Jack. Some say these players are bigger than the game itself. Others take solace in the fact that they elevated the game, setting the bar for generations to come. These players made history and broke records. Individually, they pushed the game beyond what anyone thought possible.
Any way you deal it, the history of poker is a biography of Doyle Brunson.

How about the new stars of Poker? People like Negreanu, Hellmuth and Nguyen are great entertainers, and good poker players, but where would they be without table cams and the media exposure? Please, I mean no discredit to the new stars, but Doyle helped put poker on the map.

Listen, they all are great, however the fact that Brunson has stayed great, spanning Generations, makes him the Babe Ruth of Poker

@Bruce you are right, the new guys are great but like any sport, the newer players stand on the shoulders of the pioneers.
